Do Not Disturb
©1994 by Ben BohnhorstFrom his book:
A Service on the Sufficiency of Feeding Finches and Other Poems
Ridgeway Press, 1994
What if I kiss you
While you sleep? Will you regret
My interruption?
Fret my intrusion?
Will you want to act on out
Your this-night's dream-play?I should not kiss you.
We dreamers are dramatists
Not to be disturbed!
While dreamers create
Fantastic fabrications
Mere lovers keep out!So I'll not kiss you
Till you happen to awake.
I shall watch you sleep.
Or I may myself
Drift off into my own soul's
Flow of images.
