The Autumn Masterpiece
©1996 by Lynn D. Troldahl Hershberger
- The tree is red and gold today.
- Not red on one side and gold on the other,
- but each leaf an individual red and gold masterpiece.
- It stands proudly,
- beckoning me from my chosen path.
- The sight overcomes the rest of the scenery,
- Grey sky is forgotten in its view.
- Tonight it will rain,
- Tomorrow maybe snow...
- The leaves will fall into wet mats on the ground.
- But today the tree stands,
- more magnificent than any painting in a museum.
- And I marvel at the sight...
