Kate Jacobs at Schulers
Last Sunday, the 4th, Rae and I were part of an event at Schuler Books. It was the world premiere of Kate Jacobs’ new book, Knit 2. As always, we had a great time. Schulers knows how to throw a bash, and Kate Jacobs is a class act. What a fine event it was.

There were over 80 folks in attendance, and most were knitters. We knit squares which will be sewn together as afghans, to be auctioned off at Knit Michigan with proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research.
But the big deal was not the knitting, it was the new book and the author presentation. She read an excerpt of her book which was very enjoyable. I don’t read fiction much, I’m a research/how-to/history sort of reader, but I loved listening to her read the story. That was a big treat.

We thought we might be teaching more folks to knit, when in fact so many were already knitting by the time I did my presentation it was more entertainment than education. I did pass out handouts that echo how I teach knitting, so I think some folks were planning to use it to help loved ones learn. That was an unexpected result, and a pleasant one. It was such a fun crowd!
Thanks once more to Whitney and the rest of the team at Schuler’s. It is always a delight to work there.
