Preparing for Exciting Weekend
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2003I’m preparing for a very busy next few days. I may not get much sleep but I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
Friday I am dancing at New Aladdin’s restaurant in Frandor (across from Moto Photo and Panera), with shows at 6:30 and 8:00. I love dancing there and am very excited about that.
I have one half a day left working at home to prepare for an art show I’m doing on Saturday. It’s called Art for the Soul. Since I know I have a number of local blog readers, I’ll give details: it’s at an artist’s home, at 6177 Zimmer Road in Williamston. It’s north of the intersection of Zimmer and Haslett (south of Barry Rd.), on the West side of the road. There will be signs pointing the way. Hours are 10am to 6pm. There will be 10 artists exhibiting, with a very good variety of media to choose from.
Saturday after the show we (Brian and I, The Fabulous Heftones) will be singing for my friend Ulyana’s 50th birthday potluck which will be followed by a contra dance, at Foster Community Center. Address 200 N. Foster. No charge for dinner, entertainment or dance that night, as Ulyana’s sponsoring the event for her birthday.
And since I am working 8:45am till 5pm on Friday for JoAnn Fabrics (followed by the dance performance), I really have only a few more hours to prepare for my art show. I have been making this and that for several months in anticipation, but now it seems so soon! I’ll just do what I do, and it will be fine. Last year I actually did pretty well in sales and I didn’t have much merchandise at all. This year I have much more.
I have been knitting “froofy” boa scarves on the Singer knitting frame tonight. It does eyelash yarns pretty well, although it really had some problems with a yarn called Flirt that I got at Yarn for Ewe. It kept dropping multiple stitches on that one, and picking up stitches on eyelash yarn is not fun at all. Other than that, there is a calmness to the rhythm of working with the machine. I like the Singer a lot better than the USM, it makes a soft whooshing sound that I like, as well as being less fussy.
One of these days I’ll make myself something on the Singer. Meanwhile I make scarves for my sale, and I dream about a mohair dress on the front cover of Sally Melville’s book…
