A Sunny “Day Off”

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

It is sunny and beautiful in Lansing, Michigan, USA. Brian and I are madly finishing up the packet of materials that have to be sent to the CD manufacturer… music files, cd graphics, etc. He’s on music and I’m on graphics. I have finished 3 of the 6 “pages” (one is the CD surface itself) I need to produce. Of course, the first one took longest and fortunately I’m getting better at CorelDraw, slowly.

I am not very patient with learning curves, I realize. Thank goodness I had the PhotoShop class this weekend, which explained some things I really needed to know about print graphics. I’ve done web graphics for almost 10 years, but I am so very new at print images! It is so maddening, because color on screen is made with light, and color on paper is made with ink or toner… so what you see is not at all what you get. Infuriating! I assume I’ll figure it out someday, but for now I’m groping in the dark and printing a lot of proofs. I hope the CD printer uses ink that is similar in color to the toner in my good home printer, or we could have even more surprises.

I’m scheduled to go see my brother for dinner tonight (in Ann Arbor), and then Borders Books’ knit-in. I may end up at home sitting in this chair (by a very nice window, thank goodness) all day and all night. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t mind the work, but I love my brother and it’s so hard sometimes to connect just for a simple dinner!

Tomorrow is the Anniversary of my marriage to Brian. Nine great years, truly wonderful years. I’m hoping we won’t be nose-to-the-grindstone tomorrow again (one can dream). If we need to keep working on this tomorrow, we’ll go on our Anniversary date this Friday instead of Wednesday.

Again no time for photos. I have pics of my Wristwarmer class and some lovely lace by Laurie. I haven’t forgotten you folks, I just need to spend my time on graphics, working on the CD art.

Seeya tomorrow!
