More Food as Art: Leftover Biscuits

One day a week or so ago, I made biscuits and we had some left over. These biscuits were made with buckwheat flour (thus they looked brown). I love buckwheat: I think the biscuits taste pretty good out of the oven, but they go stale faster than other breads.

So we had some fresh strawberries in the house, and some organic whipping cream. I chopped up some of the berries and made the others into a puree (with my handy blending wand… love that tool). I then made a lovely bowl layering biscuits broken into chunks, strawberries/puree and whipped cream sweetened with brown sugar.

If I had any ice cream in the house, I may have added some of that and decreased the overabundant amount of whipped cream I used. I don’t have trouble with my cholesterol or my weight, so I indulged myself.

Yes, whipped cream is essentially fluffy/sugared butterfat. However, I could not eat any dairy at all for five years. I, for one, do appreciate every single bite.

Leftovers never tasted this good before! Food as art, once more… both looks and taste. Have I mentioned how much I love summer?
