Knit a Constellation with Flame Yarn!
Friday, October 2nd, 2009Today I took a batch of Resonance Flammegarn (Flame Yarn) to Rae’s Yarn Boutique, along with a batch of Lynn’s Luxe DK-weight Cashmere sockyarn. Here are the colorways of Resonance available through Rae this weekend:
And here is the Lynn’s Luxe. Some of the colorways are flammegarn and some are three-color combinations. (I think these look like variations on Batik):
I wish you could feel these yarns. The Luxe is truly that. I have a pair of socks I made for me out of these (photo, left). I wore them all day at Sock Summit, and even though the yarn is DK weight (thicker than normal sockyarn) they were cushy and lovely underfoot. No bumpiness, at all! And it’s washable, to boot. Gotta love it.
Flammegarn makes little white dots, like stars or constellations in the knitted fabric. It allows a knitter to make cables or other textures and see their work, without being just plain solid colored. I love the patterning, the light flecks make me smile.
Perhaps you will join me at Rae’s (Lansing, Michigan’s East Side) on this Sunday, 11am-3pm, for Meet the Artist. It’s so much fun to meet folks and get to know you better. I’m looking forward to the day.
